Cocoro wins Auckland Architecture Award
Last night Cocoro was presented with a local architecture award in the Interior Architecture Category at the 2011 NZIA Auckland Architecture Awards, held at the Auckland Art Gallery.
Gary Lawson, jury convener of the Institute of Architects’ Auckland regional awards, said that a record number of entries were submitted.
The jury commented on the project: “This project demonstrates the simple and engaging use of an existing marginal space. The furniture offers comfort and character and architectural battens provide aesthetic interest and, pragmatically, as screen for acoustic materials. In devising this cleverly ordered restaurant, the Architect has achieved much with a small space and a limited budget.”
